Day 14 - Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

Holidays are hard for me, being so far away from family. To try to keep from feeling homesick, Blake and I had some friends over for an Easter dinner last night. I asked a few friends to bring over a dish that they would typically have on Easter, something they associate with Easter, and I made a ham and dinner rolls. I've always enjoyed hosting dinner parties, eating good food and chatting with good friends equals my kind of party. Last night was great, we ate and visited, then headed out to the Easter Vigil mass at the local church.

I had wanted to witness a true Dominican Catholic service during our stay here, so it was nice to finally attend one, plus I was confirmed into the Catholic church last night. Confirmation just means that I've completed my studies and conversion to Catholicism, and that now I'm a member of the Catholic church. I also received my first Holy Eucharist, the body and blood of Christ. Mass started at 10 p.m......and ended at 2 a.m. It was long, but beautiful and moving. It was definitely a cultural experience, and Blake and I loved it.

  1. Tanya, congrats on your confirmation, that is so exciting! And well done for enduring the very long midnight mass :)
