Ahhhhh... exams are so stressful!!
Today is Blake's last mini exam on the island. Mini's are anything but mini...students typically have three a semester, and a final (however, I think mini one is now being split into two tests for some of the semesters). This is about the time in the semester that students start looking like zombies walking around campus, some can't eat, some overeat, some can't sleep...just overall an elevated stress environment, with 1000+ students freaking out at once. Blake usually doesn't sleep well the night before the mini, or eat much the day before for that matter.
Typically Blake takes the rest of the day off after a mini, but with the final coming up in one week, he is taking a short break to go on two dives (haha...yes, that is a short break..4 hours or so) and then he'll be back at studying tonight. I feel for the fourth semester students too, because after the final, they don't really have a break, like the other semesters. Fourth semester students have to study for the comprehensive exam, taken the first Friday of fifth semester (May 18th for us). While the students have a three week break between fourth and fifth, most are moving countries, setting up in either Miramar, FL or Saginaw, MI, (some students stay in Dominica) AND studying for this big exam. Ross students are required to pass the comp before they are allowed to take the USMLE Step 1 exam, so its a big deal. Please keep Blake in your thoughts and prayers!
