Second full day down!

So we've been here for two full days now, and things are going mostly well. There have been a few hiccups along the way (we still don't have our barrels, everywhere is closed between now and either Monday or Tuesday), but we're otherwise set up and safe in our apartment. We're still getting the lay of the land right now--we've had to go grocery shopping three separate times now--but we've managed to successfully set up our National Bank of Dominica account, get my computer set up with the Ross network, and get cell phones to call each other and friends on the island. Our internet is obviously up and running, as you've no doubt seen my posted pictures and videos. I probably won't keep up this level of info dump, but I want to get as much up while I can right now.

Rained all morning and most of the afternoon yesterday, but I was still able to tour the campus and make several friends. We also finished most of the aforementioned errands. Later last night I took Tanya out to dinner at the Picard Beach Hotel for her birthday, and the experience was great. The deck of the restaurant is built right up to the beach, so you get a great view as well as the soothing sounds of the waves. The atmosphere was cool and breezy, and the food was very good, especially the papaya/banana fruit smoothie we had for dessert. I definitely recommend it if you happen to visit and want to eat out at a nice restaurant. Other than that, we've had KFC, which was KFC, and a chicken wrap at Fusion today as a snack. I sampled the national beer of Dominica, Kubuli, which was decent on its own (a little too oat-y), but great with the wrap. Very refreshing.

Right now Tanya's trying to cook up some chili mac on our underpowered stove (have to get that fixed tomorrow) as I try to update everyone with pictures, video, and text :) I hope you guys are enjoying it as much as I am!
