Made it to Miramar!

Blake and I made it to Miramar yesterday! We ended up driving straight here from Victoria, Texas - supposed to be a 22 hour drive. We meant to spend the night some where along the way, which was Pensacola, FL, but we didn't get there until 11 pm, instead of 6 pm, so we decided that instead of spending 6 hours in a hotel we would just take turns driving. We ended up getting here around noon yesterday, got checked into our place, unpacked, and went to dinner with friends. It worked out great. The five hours of delay was because of some stopping to eat and get gas, but mostly because there were a couple of accidents on I10 where the highway was closed and we had to take detours.

We love our new place. Its a 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom in a condo complex about 2 miles away from the campus. We set up the extra room as an office, and its a comfortable set up. There were two things I was really excited about, we each have our own sink - and mine is separated from the bathroom, and I have a full size oven! Yes, Dominica did that to me - I'm excited about an oven. Even if we didn't just live in Dominica I would be pretty happy with our place, its really nice, but after living in Dominica I appreciate it sooo much more.

Our neighborhood is pretty upscale, and everything you could possibly need is within a 5 minute drive from our condo.

I would like to say that I miss Dominica - but I don't. Maybe after I've been around here for awhile I would, but for now I'm good. I thought about my friends in Ross Spouses Org today, so I was going to post on their Facebook page that I missed them all and was leaving the group since I'm no longer on the island..but it doesn't look like they miss me at all because they had already deleted me from the group. That was nice of them. A side note here - they don't do that to everyone, last semester there were two people that left the island over a year ago that were still members of the group. So whoever did that, thanks, I hope you enjoyed your two seconds of RSO "power". I'll just keep in touch with the few people worth talking to on my own!
