Happy New Year!
To be completely honest, I have been bad about updating this blog. I promise I will do better this year!
Quick run-down on recent events:
Dec 11: In Light In Food Drive. The food drive was a huge success! With all the donations, three of my friends and I bought and delivered food to 6 families, a total of 34 people. The families were very appreciative for the help! Thank you to all that donated, this was by far my favorite day on the island yet.
Some highlights:
Dec 19 - Jan 4: Blake and I spent the holidays in Texas. It was a much needed vacation back to the states. We did so many fun things, and had some quality friends and family time. I didn't take pictures of everything, but here are some highlights:
| Shrek the Halls - Ice Sculptures at the Gaylord Texan...REALLY COLD! |
| Bob (my stepdad), Hayden (Bob's grandson), and mom |
| Rhett and Kathryn, Rhett's girlfriend, and our puppies, before going out dancing |
YUMMY FOOD! We ate soo many delicious things while we were home. We had sushi at our Friends Christmas dinner in San Antonio |
| Celebrated Blake's parent's wedding anniversary with them |
| Went to the Texas A & M bowl game, my dad is in this picture |
| Gig Em sunglasses! |
| Surprise birthday cake from Anna and Scott! |
| Going out on New Years |
| Big Hair Cut Day - beforehand |
| 11 inches later, donated to Locks of Love |
| new 'do |
| I took a bunch of sunset pics on my new camera |
Now we are back in Dominica, and Blake has started his 4th semester of med school. We missed our 1-year Dominica anniversary, courtesy of our vacation, and now we only have 4 months to go before we head back to the states.
Looking back on the past year, I'm very thankful for the opportunities we have been given, and appreciate our time out here on the island. We look forward to the year ahead, and the exciting transition to 5th semester.
congratulations on your food drive, that's so awesome!! what a great thing to be doing. best of luck the next fews months, I'm sure they will fly by!
